Bladesman a belt Grinder designed for knife sharpening

Bladesman 1×30 vs 1×42 — Equipment Brief

Toycen Bladesman DC variable-speed reversing belt sharpener — comparison of the two configurations

Overview The Bladesman is a purpose-built belt sharpener designed by Jeff Toycen and manufactured in Canada in small production runs. Unlike general-purpose belt grinders adapted to knife work, the Bladesman was engineered from the start around the realities of edge sharpening: heat control, blade-angle repeatability, swarf management, and low cost-per-blade. Two configurations share the same platform — DC variable-speed reversing drive, a 1-inch-wide belt, and a 400–3,000 SFPM range — and differ primarily in belt length and the intended user. Shared Platform Highlights • Designed to run dry — the narrow 1-inch belt combined with variable speed keeps the work cool and protects the temper of the steel. • Reversing, variable-speed DC drive across 400–3,000 SFPM lets the operator dial in belt speed to the steel, the grit, and the stage of the grind. • Ergonomically oriented to throw dust and swarf away from the operator, with the work positioned so gravity assists blade pressure rather than fighting it. • Fast, tool-less belt changes; 1-inch belts in both lengths are widely stocked, inexpensive consumables. • Supported by the PW Bladesman web-based angle calculator (runs offline once loaded) to dial in any apex angle precisely.

• Made in Canada in small runs.
